While it was only January, Vital Bridges spiced things up for those of us stuck in the midst of the dreaded Chicago winter with their Vital Nights “Heat of the Night” event at National 27. Vital Bridges is an organization dedicated to helping Chicagoans who are impacted by HIV and AIDS by promoting health and by providing food, nutrition, housing, case management and prevention services in an effort to build self-sufficiency among those individuals.
The “Heat of the Night” event, (which took place on Wednesday, January 26th), was one of the many events that the organization puts on to raise money for their efforts. Guest hosts included Julie Bouchard, Jim Lee, Kasia Koniar and Jeffrey Ward. In keeping with the Latin theme, this particular event featured Bacardi cocktails, such as refreshing mojitos, and Victoria beer, along with a sampling of National 27′s delicious tapas. The highlight of the evening was a performance by the very talented violinist, Katarina Visnevska, who circled the room while playing her instrument to tunes spinned by DJ Luv Jones. To cap the night off, Cheeky Chicago’s Jessica Zweig and Vital Bridges James Goeke announced the evening’s raffle prizes and winners.
